In the Chinese mythology there is a fictional creature known as KIRIN.
 
It is said to have antlers like a deer and scales like a fish, hooves like a horse and the head of a dragon.  It can fly, walk on water and spew fire. And maybe it is also musical...
 
In Sønderborg, on the island Als in southern Denmark, the kirin has taken form of a classical woodwind quintet, consisting of flute, oboe, clarinet, french horn and bassoon: Kirin Winds.
 
All the members of the quintet are musicians in Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester and were 2009 double prize winners in "P2's Kammermusikkonkurrence," Danish Radio's chamber music competition.
 
The quintet mainly plays works from the Classical and Romantic periods and collaborates with contemporary composers. Kirin Winds is a versatile ensemble, and can also play works of lighter character.
